Music in the Making

Welcome! Thank you for stopping by my weebly web site.
Musically about me:
I'm a graduate of Northwestern University and The University of Arizona in music, and my dad was a music teacher, so I had plenty of piano lessons as a kid. (Click on my Kindness page to see more about my teachers.) After singing as a child in choirs and musicals, at age fifteen, I decided I wanted to play principal clarinet in The New York Philharmonic, a great dream. So, I pursued practicing and learning clarinet repertoire and earned my Masters in clarinet performance. I had quit seriously singing from age 17 until I turned 34 years old and then began voice training again. I am continuing to develop my vocal timbre with practice and private lessons, and I am very fortunate to have auditioned and been placed as a soprano soloist at a Church in Cleveland, Ohio for the past five years. Recordings are mostly from live recitals and performances and one recorded CD. I work with amateur and professional pianists at any given time. On my vocal performances page, right now I have a Bellini piece up, two of my own art songs minus four measures in "Blind", and an early music piece that I performed with organ at the church in March of 2011. On my clarinet music page, I have a snippet of one of my students playing the first page of Weber "Concerto No. 1" and me playing Joan Tower's "Wings" and a Piazzolla tango (from 2007). More music to come from my former recitals, student recitals, and eventually a recording of my first composition for clarinet!

As a composer/writer, I have written poetry and then set it to music and have realized these art songs are telling a story. So, I have found myself writing an opera. I also am writing a piece for clarinet and orchestra, a song cycle, and a piece for violin and clarinet. The YouTube video is an interview that WAKE UP AND LIVE, CLEVELAND http://www.wakeupandlives.org so kindly did of me to promote my teaching and my musicianship. ******* I finally have a place to say that I DID have a performance coming up in May of that year. The video was done in March, and they asked if I had any performances coming up and I said, "No, but my students do!" HA HA HA-- I put them first and completely forgot that I was singing an original sacred piece AND playing an original clarinet piece on that composer's senior recital at Cleveland State University.******
